WELCOME & SERVICES
For details of events and activities in the churches and villages of The Polden Hills, visit Polden Events at http://www.poldenevents.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=1
Woolavington, Cossington and Bawdrip are three villages situated at the western end of the Polden Hills in the heart of rural Somerset and in the Diocese of Bath & Wells (http://www.bathandwells.org.uk/). They are served by the parish churches of St Mary's, St Mary's and St Michael's - small, beautifully kept medieval churches which are home to active worshipping communities. The Churches work together as a United Benefice and are of the central Anglican tradition - open, inclusive and very welcoming. The ministry of the parish churches extends beyond the church buildings and the mission of the church families is to demonstrate and share the love of Christ in their village communities.
The Holy Communion services are Common Worship services in modern language and with a mix of traditional and more contemporary songs and hymns.
Sung Eucharist is a formal and traditional sung Holy Communion service (Common Worship) with well known traditional hymns, and sung liturgy and anthems led by a processing robed choir.
The Family Service at Woolavington is led by a small team of lay people and is intended to be a time of fun learning, sharing and worshipping for all ages, especially children and young people. A chance to chat and enjoy fellowship over coffee afterwards.
Family Communions are informal Holy Communion services for ages 0 to 100 !
Songs of Praise and Celebration services are led by a team of lay people. Informal worship with a wide mix of music and songs, informal prayer and informal “sermon”. A chance to chat and enjoy fellowship over coffee afterwards.
Matins and Evensong are traditional Book of Common Prayer (1662) morning and evening services with ancient liturgy, hymns and sermon. Will appeal to very traditional Anglicans!
The United Benefice Communion Service is a Holy Communion service for all three villages in one place. It is usually at 10am, and rotates round the churches.

OVERSEAS MISSION LINKS
USPG - ANGLICANS IN WORLD MISSION
St Mary's Cossington has been supporting the work of USPG since the 1970's. In particular funds are raised each year to support the work of USPG with the Mampong Babies' Home in Ghana and also to support USPG's healthcare work in Malawi. Weekly coffee mornings are held in different homes throughout the benefice as the principal means of fund raising.

THE PAPPA FUND
The Pappa Fund is a small charity which actively works for the promotion and improvement of healthcare, education and employment opportunities for women and disabled on the tiny island of Rameswaram off the South East coast of India. The charity is well supported by the benefice by means of Lent Collections and other occasional activities.

Our previous Rector spent three and a half years training at Holy Trinity Church, Frome where Rob was vicar until 2008. Rob was then appointed Bishop of Marsabit in Northern Kenya (a diocese the size of England) where he and his wife, Sue, now live. He is a missionary bishop placed and supported by Crosslinks, an international mission agency. Rob and Sue depend heavily upon financial support from churches back home in order to sustain their day to day living. A number of our congregation have committed to contribute and Woolavington Church has pledged to underwrite a minimum level of giving this year.
